Murder Charge Dismissed
The client was charged with murder and was facing 25 years to life in prison. He was driving a car and had some passengers with him. When he stopped the car, one of his passengers got out, confronted and shot the decedent. The shooter got back in the car and Bryan drove away with the shooter in the car. During negotiations with the prosecutor, Mr. Wright highlighted Bryan’s conduct, and that the evidence showed he did not know what the shooter was going to do when he got out of the car. Mr. Wright was able to convince the prosecutor that he would not be able to prove the client had the knowledge and intent required to prove the murder charge on the aider and abettor theory he was pursuing. Mr. Wright convinced the prosecutor to allow him to plead to one count of accessory after the fact for just three years county jail.
