Charges Dismissed

Attempted Murder—Mental Health Diversion

The client was charged with attempted murder with a knife and was facing 10 years in prison if convicted. Prosecutors were aggressively pursuing the case and were asking for at least 8 years state prison.  Mr. Wright conducted a comprehensive mental health work-up, had a psychiatrist evaluate the client, and was able to present the court with a detailed and structured treatment plan. Mr. Wright filed a motion for mental health diversion, which the court granted over the prosecutor’s objection. The client went on to successfully complete diversion with Mr. Wright by his side every step of the way. His case was dismissed with no prison time and no conviction on his record.
